Indications

Operations on the lower leg, ankle and foot (additional block of the saphenous nerve may be necessary). Distal sciatic catheter for (postoperative) pain therapy, e.g. following amputations of toes or anterior foot, and to achieve a sympatholytic effect.

 

Contraindications

There are no specific contraindications for distal sciatic blocks. The general contraindications that are applicable are listed at the end of this chapter.
